What is holistic health coaching?

Holistic health coaching treats each person as the individual that they are. What works for one person may not work for another. It’s about meeting a person where they are in life and working with them to set goals and make simple, healthy changes that will last for a lifetime.

I work with the concept of primary foods and secondary foods. Primary foods are the things in your life: exercise, relationships, career and spirituality. Secondary foods are the foods you eat. You can eat the healthiest, cleanest diet in the world, but if you’re miserable in your relationship or unfulfilled in your career you will not be healthy.

How is holistic health coaching different than a diet or therapy?

Holistic health coaching looks at the entire picture. I look at the food you’re eating, your exercise habits, satisfaction level in your career, quality of your relationship - basically your entire lifestyle. We work together to figure out where imbalances in your life are and set goals to make gradual changes so that they will last and become a habit (just like brushing your teeth every morning or putting your shoes on before you walk out the door).

No one diet works for everyone. As a Health Coach, I have studied all the major dietary theories and will help you discover what approach works best for you at this point in your life. I will guide you to find the food and lifestyle choices that best support you. I will also help you to make gradual, lifelong changes that enable you to reach your current and future health goals.

Who will benefit from one of your programs?

Someone who is excited and ready to make changes in their life. People who are motivated, show up on time to each of their sessions and will do whatever it takes to accomplish their goals will succeed.

Who will not benefit from one of your programs?

Somebody who is looking for a quick fix or wants me to do their work for them.  It takes time and commitment to make a change and integrate it into your life. Also, someone who constantly cancels or reschedules sessions will not be successful in my program.

Are you going to make me get rid of my cookies, diet coke, potato chips, fried chicken (insert your vice here)?

NO! This is why my approach is different. It’s important to enjoy food because it’s a huge part of life. Not to mention it tastes good! Instead of telling you not to eat your favorite foods I will introduce the concept of crowding out. By crowding out these junk foods with healthier options your body will naturally stop craving them. We will also discuss healthier alternatives and explore underlying issues you have with food. So, you can still have your cake and eat it too. :)

Being healthy takes a lot of time and energy – I have too many other things to think about.

If you’re unhealthy you’re likely experiencing trouble sleeping, anxiety and/or depression, aches and pains, skin problems, health problems…the list goes on.

Being healthy doesn’t take as much time as you make think. It actually gives you more time and energy. How? By eating well and leading a balanced life you will gain energy, decrease stress, think more clearly, rev up your metabolism, feel more confident and find time to do the things you love. You’ll feel amazing!

Throughout your personalized program I will support you in making simple, gradual changes that are sustainable – changes you feel comfortable making. The time we spend together will be your chance to get away from it all and focus on YOU.
